In the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences our main
business is Higher Education, Teaching and Research and we are leaders in
this. We work closely with industry to ensure that our teaching and
research is transferred to the market place i.e. is relevant to businesses.
In order to support industry and to strengthen our main activities
we do offer a range of specialist services directly to industry.
Such activities are often referred to as consultancy, knowledge transfer, professional advice, continuing professional development, analytical services or third strand activities. We refer to
all these as Business Services.
We can not, and want not to compete with consultancy companies
or standard analytical services agencies; far from it, we very
often do work in collaboration with them. Our aim is to add to the
range of advice and services that are available at the very specialist
end by capitalising on our national and international research expertise.
