Geosciences@Newcastle is truly multidisciplinary, combining a blend of microbial ecology, geochemistry, mineralogy, marine and soil science which in terms of breadth and depth is unique in the UK and beyond. We research and educate in applied and fundamental aspects of the geosciences with a particular focus on conventional and alternative energy resources, environmental sustainability, climate change and biosphere and geosphere interations. |

Our research informs and supports other areas of research in the School’s Earth Systems Science Engineering and Management framework that depend on knowledge of Earth materials and processes. In particular we have established close collaborations with colleagues in CeG Environmental Engineering and Water research groups. Our research is disseminated in leading international journals including the journals Nature and Science.
We offer PhD opportunities in the areas above, which can be funded by research council studentships.
Knowledge transfer of our cutting edge research directly to industry and government. |
