scholarships and bursaries 2011

We are currently determining the scholarships and bursaries available from the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences for September 2011 entry. Information about financial support will appear here as soon as possible.

School Master’s Industrial Bursaries (SMIBs)

In recognition of its excellent support from industry, the School of Civil Engineering and Geosciences are pleased to announce that we have industrial funding for a number of competitive awards. This bursary scheme is offered to encourage applicants to come and study here with us in Newcastle. A full award will be a bursary of £4000. Successful students will typically be funded by a full or partial bursary; School Masters Bursaries (SMIBs) will be between a minimum of 50% and a maximum of 100% of a full bursary, payable towards fees.

To be considered for a SMIB, you must have applied for, and been accepted onto, one of our MSc programmes. You must also have achieved, or be predicted to achieve, a first class or high upper second class equivalent (>70%, grade B average) in your first degree. Eligible applicants should contact the relevant MSc Admissions Tutor to apply for an SMIB:

CeG Recommend a Friend Scheme In the spirit of spreading good news around, The School of Civil Engineering is offering £250 to any international student or graduate of the MSc programmes in CeG who recommends a friend to study on one of our MSc programmes in a subsequent year. The recommendation statement should be made at the time of application, by an email to the MSc Admissions Tutor (see above). The award will be made once the “friend” has registered and completed the first semester of study.
