roles and responsibilities

IWOKRAMA 2009 - present
Commonwealth Secretariat funded consultancy: Iwokrama International centre for Rainforest Conservation and Development's climate and hydrology. Collation and assessment of climate (and hydrology) data availability and quality for Guyana and the surrounding regions. Also analysis of the data in order to place Iwokrama's climate into a regional and global context, and for use as a baseline for further studies.

AQUATERRA 2008 - 2009
EC project: Global Change and Ecosystems Integrated Project. Generation of climate change scenarios for Gallego catchment (Spain) using a simple bias-correction method to downscale the daily precipitation and temperature fields of a selection of regional climate models from the grid-cell to point scale.

SAM 2008 - 2009
DTI project: System Based Analysis and Management of Urban Flood Risk. Investigating the use of radar data for validating and supporting a spatial and temporal rainfall model for use in Integrated Urban Drainage Design and Management.

EPIC-FORCE 2007 - present
EC project: Evidence-based policy for integrated control of forested river catchments in extreme rainfall and snowmelt. Application of the SHETRAN model (a physically based, spatially distributed, integrated surface/subsurface system for modelling water flow and sediment transport in river catchments, shallow landslides and debris flows) to a catchment in Ecuador.

MEDIGRID 2004-2006
EC project: Mediterranean Grid of Multi-Risk Data and Models - aiming to integrate hazard assessment models (e.g. forest fires, flash floods and soil erosion) into a web-based distributed risk-assessment service using shared disaster-related data resources.

LESSLOSS 2004-2006
EC project: European Integrated Project on Risk Mitigation for Earthquakes and Landslides - simulating the occurrence of shallow landslides and debris flows as a function of rainfall return period.

SUSMAQ 2005
DFID project: Sustainable Management of the West Bank and Gaza Aquifers - investigated the impact of land-use change and climate change on the West Bank using PRECIS RCM.

MEDACTION 2002-2004
EC project: Policies for Land Use to Combat Desertification.
